If you've been following along with us, at this point you've tried a number of sours, from the Whiskey Sour right up to the Margarita. Because it's such a familiar template for a drink, it makes the most sense to start our Pisco drinks with the classic Pisco Sour. Most of the Pisco Sour recipes we've found call for quite a lot of simple syrup, but we've opted to dry the cocktail out a bit so that pisco's taste comes through.
What you need
- 1.5 oz. pisco
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- 0.75 oz. simple syrup
- 1 egg white
- Several drops Angostura bitters
How it's made
Add the ingredients other than the bitters to a cocktail shaker without ice and shake for 20-30 seconds. Add ice to your shaker and shake for another 8-10 seconds. Dash the bitters on to the egg white foam, and if you'd like, use a toothpick to make some interesting designs in the top.
