George plots revenge on his former boss. Jerry seeks to get even with a laundromat owner.
A while ago, we featured one of our favourite Bénédictine cocktails, the Monk’s Revenge. Since then, our version has been searched enough times to be the second result when we google “Monk’s Revenge Cocktail.” We were rather excited to be associated with one of our favourite cocktails, and so we decided to celebrate by making a variation on the cocktail.
Since Tequila is our current bottle, we decided to use it as our base, rather than Rye. We switched up the Amari a bit, using Cynar instead of Campari, swapped the proportions of the base and the Bénédictine, and added a dash of mole bitters to tie things together. The result is a cocktail that’s similar to its parent, but the swap of the base makes tequila the centre of the drink rather than rye or Benedictine. We feel that the Revenge lives up to its inspiration.
What you need
- 1.5 oz. reposado tequila
- 1.0 oz. Bénédictine
- one bar spoon Fernet-Branca
- one bar spoon Cynar
- one dash mole bitters
How it’s made
Combine all of the ingredients other than the bitters in a mixing glass with ice. Stir for 50 revolutions and strain into a mixing glass with a king cube. Top with the bitters.
