The Shaddock Rose is a gimlet variation by Small Hand Foods founder Jean Colliau, first served while guest-bartending at Please Don’t Tell in New York City. Like the gimlet, and our rum variation, The Andrea Doria, the Shaddock Rose is spirit-forward but balanced by the cordial’s sweetness and tartness.
What you need
- 2 oz. reposado tequila
- 0.5 oz. grapefruit cordial
- 1 dash Peychaud’s bitters
- 1 dash orange bitters
How it’s made
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for approximately 30 rotations, then strain into a coupe. No garnish.
Here's how to make our grapefruit cordial. Zest one grapefruit set zest aside. Juice the grapefruit and two lemons. Weigh the juice and measure out an equivalent amount of sugar. Pour the juice and sugar into a sealable container and add zest. Seal, shake until sugar is dissolved, and leave to infuse for 24 hours. Strain through a fine mesh strainer.
