The Red Dot
Jerry is unintentionally responsible for Elaine's romantic woes. George gives Elaine a cashmere sweater.
We made some raspberry syrup for some Clover Clubs. We had some internal squabbling about splitting bases. We really enjoy putting Bénédictine in our originals. This led us to The Red Dot.
A split base of Cognac and Calvados is the foundation of this brandy sour variation. Lemon juice is the sour, with Bénédictine adding some herbal spice. Two bar-spoons of raspberry syrup made the drink a touch too tart, while splitting with simple syrup added a perfect mix of sweet and tart.
What you need
- 0.75 oz. Cognac
- 0.75 oz. Calvados
- 0.5 oz. lemon juice
- 0.25 oz. Bénédictine
- 1 bsp. raspberry syrup
- 1 bsp. simple syrup
How it's made
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with ice. Double-strain into a coupe.
To make raspberry syrup, boil 2/3 cup of water with 2/3 cup of white sugar. When the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat and add a cup of raspberries. Mash the raspberries, and let stand for at least an hour. Strain the mixture and keep in the refrigerator.
