The Jack Rose is a classic American cocktail from the 1920s, and traditionally calls for an American apple brandy called applejack. We use calvados in our Jack Rose, and limited our citrus to lemon juice, though you'll find recipes that call for lemon and lime.
The cocktail makes an appearance in classic American literature, most notably in The Sun Also Rises, and was John Steinbeck's favourite cocktail. It's a pleasurable sour, with notes of apple from the calvados and sweetness and richness from the grenadine.

- 2 oz. apple brandy
