Given our unabashed love of Chartreuse, the Alaska is perhaps the most egregious omission of the cocktails we posted as we added our first 12 bottles. The Alaska is another classic that first appeared in the Savoy cocktail book, and can be thought of as yet-another improvement on our least-favourite cocktail, the Martini.
The Alaska is simple, containing only three ingredients: gin, yellow Chartreuse, and orange bitters. The combination of botanicals in the gin and Chartreuse create a surprisingly complex flavour for a cocktail with so few ingredients.
What you need
- 1.5 oz. gin
- 0.5 oz. yellow Chartreuse
- 1 dash orange bitters
How it's made
Add all of the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir for approximately 30 revolutions and strain into a nick and nora glass. No garnish.
