George picks up a bad language habit, Kramer installs a hot tub in his apartment. Elaine hosts a marathon runner from Trinidad And Tobago, who Jerry worries will oversleep the race.
The Hot Tub is both a Trinidad Sour variation and an attempt to make a cocktail that uses Fernet-Branca as the base spirit. The Trinidad Sour is a sour that contains a full ounce of Angostura bitters, and, contrary to what you might think, is well balanced and quite delicious, provided you like Angostura bitters.
The Hot Tub follows in the footsteps of its parent cocktail; it is not for those who do not like more than token amounts of Fernet-Branca. If you have developed a taste for Fernet, however, you will find that the lime juice and honey syrup blunt the bitterness of the amaro, and that the rye smooths things out a little, allowing the flavour of Fernet to shine without being overpowering.
What you need
- 1 oz. Fernet
- 0.5 oz. rye whiskey
- 0.75 oz. honey syrup
- 0.75 oz. lime juice
How its made
Shake all of the ingredients over ice in a shaker for 6-8 seconds. Strain into a nick and nora glass and garnish with a lime wheel.
